Wealth

Apparently, the most popular post with you guys is Outward Appearances. I don't know if it's because you really feel for the unfairness of, well, fairness. Ha ha. Or if it's because you like the references to verses. Well, in case it's the latter, I have another verse reference for you.

So, I'm sorry if this offends anyone, but rich, spoiled kids make me mad. I mean, I tutor sometimes, and one of my students gets an allowance of $100 per week. Oh, and did I mention this student's iPhone 4S and iPad? Not to say that this person also neglects their homework and is REALLY not doing so well with grades. But, yes, I will not mention names. They probably wouldn't even recognize their self even if they read this. Pity. But, yes, another student as well, when they heard this, they said, "Only? Mine's $140." Wow. The things they'll learn to take for granted. But, really, don't wish you were one of them. Listen to Proverbs 22:2. "The rich and the poor have this in common: the Lord made them both." We have to learn to be indifferent to wealth. It's hard. I know. Look at the earlier passage I wrote. It just seems to be dripping with jealousy, doesn't it? Yes, I have to work on this as well. It is directly against a commandment: "Do not covet anything belonging to your neighbor." (paraphrased) Learn from my mistakes.
And if you ARE jealous, remember that the root of all evil is greed. Keep this verse in mind, as well; Proverbs 23:4-5. "Don't wear yourself out to get rich; stop giving your attention to it. As soon as your eyes fly to it, it disappears, for it makes wings for itself and flies like an eagle to the sky." The main point I'm trying to make here is to be content. If you're not, basically telling God, you didn't do a good enough job when you blessed me. I want more. This is where evil starts. Beware.
